jidoka

What is Jidoka?

Jidoka means providing machines and operators  the ability to detect when an abnomal situation has occurred and immediately stop work to institute countermeasures.

Why should we adopt Jidoka?

Where machines and processes do not equip themselves with jidoka, operators are needed to keep watch on machines to prevent defects.

Jidoka enables operations to build in quality at each process and to separate operators from machines for more efficient work.

What can we achieve though separating human work from machine work?

Freeing operators from simply monitoring machines through jidoka enables operators

to do other value – creating work during machine cycle, for example ,multi-machine handling and multi-process handling.
