What is visual management ?

It means the placement in view of all tools,oarts,production activties and indicators of

production system performance .

Then the status of the system can be understood at a glance by everyone involved.

 

Standards are the basis of visual management

To achieve visual worksite management ,start with setting easy-to-understand  standards. In the Toyota Production System ,”standers” dose not mean thick files

on the shelves. A standard should be a clear image of desired condition.

Why are standards so important?

Standards make abnormalities immediately obvious so that corrective action can be taken.

In the Toyota production system ,standards should be linked to action.

What makes a standard effective?

A good standard is simple ,clear and visual.
